On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and AD's, we would like to congratulate our overall Delaware League Varsity Baseball Champions the South Kortright Rams and our overall Delaware League Varsity Softball Champions the Roxbury Lady Rockets. South Kortright defeated Charlotte Valley by a score of 5 - 2 and Roxbury defeated Gilboa Conesville by a score of 14 - 0. Both games took place in Neahwa Park in Oneonta and we would like to thank the City of Oneonta, their Parks and Recreation Department, and Parks and Recreation Department Director Louise Lansing for allowing us to use their fields and having them in great shape for us. We appreciate it very much!!!

On Thursday May 12th the Delaware League will be having their Varsity Boys Baseball Championship and their Varsity Girls Softball Championship in Neahwa Park in Oneonta, NY at 4:30 PM. The baseball championship will feature regular season champion South Kortright as the home team facing off against runner up Charlotte Valley as the visitor on Field #6. The softball championship will feature regular season champion Roxbury as the home team facing off against runner up Gilboa Conesville as the visitor on Ted Christmas Field #4. Tomorrow is the Delaware League Individual Tennis Championships at Total Tennis in Saugerties, NY at 9:00 AM. The league will be crowning a boys singles champion, a girls singles champion, boys doubles champions, and girls doubles champions. Good luck to all our players in this annual fun filled event which acts as a tune up for sectionals!

The Delaware League would like to congratulate the athletes and coaches from our league that this year are being inducted into the Section IV Hall of Fame. From the Class of 2021 the inductees are athlete Robin Heidt Hynes from Jefferson Central School and coach Rick Cammer from Jefferson Central School. From the Class of 2022 the inductees are athletes Dan Toombs from Charlotte Valley Central School and Michael Swantak from South Kortright Central School. Coaches are Jeff Baier from Downsville Central School, John Toroni from Jefferson Central School, Jo Hinkley from Roxbury Central School, and Jane Ware from Roxbury Central School. These groups of individuals have proudly represent their families, schools, and communities during their time at their respective schools. Congratulations to Head Coach Aaron Kaufman and the South Kortright Rams Varsity Boys Basketball team on an extremely successful year representing their school, families, friends, communities, the Delaware League, and Section IV proudly as they advanced to the NYSPHSAA State Tournament Class D semifinals before falling this morning to the Section X Champion Heuvelton Central School by a score of 68-47. The tradition their program has is recognized throughout the area and respected as well by players, coaches, and communities alike. It is always a pleasure to see them compete and have the opportunity to go against them in all sports throughout the calendar year. Delaware League Senior Basketball Players!!! Just a reminder that the Delaware League Senior Basketball Games are tomorrow night at Charlotte Valley Central School with the girls game first at 5:30 PM followed by the boys game at 6:30 PM. Please bring both your white and dark uniforms as we will make teams before the games. You must have the NYSPHSAA signed permission slip to be able to play in the game. No phone calls or texts if you forget the slip as it must be signed by your parent or guardian. Please arrive 45 minutes before your game so the coaches can make equitable teams. We hope to see you at this fun game to complete your high school career!!!

Congratulations to the Section IV Skiing participants led by the Windham Ashland Jewett Varsity Girls Team and the Hunter Tannersville Varsity Boys Team. On the girls side, Windham Ashland Jewett finished tied for fourth place in the team competition and the Section IV Girls Team as a group finished in fifth place. On the boys side, Hunter Tannersville finished in seventh place in the team competition and the Section IV Boys Team as a group also finished in seventh place. For the girls, Piper Cohane from Windham Ashland Jewett was the top finisher in both the giant slalom and slalom events. For the boys, Ryan McVitty from Margaretville was the top finisher in the giant slalom event and Konrad Gilbert from Hunter Tannersville was the top finisher in the slalom event. The Section IV Sportsmanship Winners were Bella Poniros from Roxbury for the girls and JP Klein from Windham Ashland Jewett for the boys. Congratulations to everyone who participated and represented the Delaware League and Section IV!!!

Congratulations to our 2021-22 Delaware League Varsity Basketball Champions. In the Varsity Girls game, South Kortright defeated the Stamford/Jefferson merged team by the score of 38-26. In the Varsity Boys game, South Kortright defeated the Jefferson/Stamford merged team by the score of 74-38. Best of luck to both teams as well as all the other Delaware League Boys and Girls Basketball teams beginning sectional play this coming week. A huge thank you to everyone at the campus of SUNY Delhi for once again hosting our championships. It was a pleasure to be your first on campus event this year for outside organizations. Congratulations to our 2021-22 Delaware League JV Basketball Champions. In the JV Girls game, South Kortright defeated Davenport by a score of 38-30 in a closely fought contest. In the JV Boys game, Margaretville defeated Downsville by a score of 54-38 in an entertaining game for the many fans who attended. The Delaware League Varsity Basketball Championships will take place on Thursday February 17th at the Manes Fieldhouse on the SUNY Delhi campus. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students, and anyone over 65 and under 10 will be admitted free. Masks are required at all times for spectators. Parking by the field house will be only for school buses and handicapped tagged cars. The Bronco Shuttle Bus will run throughout the night starting at 5:00 PM taking spectators from lower lots to the top and back again. The Varsity Girls Championship at 5:30 PM will have #1 seed South Kortright vs #2 seed Stamford/Jefferson. The Varsity Boys Championship at 7:30 PM will have #1 seed South Kortright vs #2 seed Jefferson/Stamford. The Delaware League Awards Ceremony will take place at 7:00 PM where our Joseph P. Beck Senior Scholar Athletes will be recognized and our Coaches Hall of Fame Inductees will be honored for their years of service and dedication to their schools. Best of luck to all 4 teams in pursuit of the overall titles!
