Congratulations to our regular season Boys and Girls Delaware League Varsity Soccer Champions of 2022-23. On the boys side our champion was South Kortright with a league record of 7-0-1, and on the girls side we had tri-champions as Windham, South Kortright, and Margaretville all sported a league record of 6-2. Our regular season Delaware League Varsity Boys Golf Champion was Hunter Tannersville with a league record of 7-0. Great work everyone!!!

Congratulations to Hunter Tannersville for winning the Delaware League 18 Hole Golf Championship on October 13th at the College Golf Course at SUNY Delhi with a team score of 358. Congratulations to our top three individual scorers Grady Glennon of Hunter Tannersville as medalist with a score of 76, Thomas Chairvolotti of Margaretville as runner up with a score of 83, and Cooper Wright of Charlotte Valley as our second runner up with a score of 91 as he defeated Lyden Smith of Hunter Tannersville in a two hole playoff.

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate Andes Central School, Charlotte Valley Central School, and South Kortright Central School for being recognized as School of Distinction recipients for the 2021-22 school year. This means 100% of their Varsity Teams qualified and received Scholar Athlete Team Status as sponsored by the NYSPHSAA. We would also like to congratulate Gilboa Conesville Central School for being recognized by Section IV as a NYSPHSAA Sportsmanship Plaque Winner for the 2021-22 school year. On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate longtime friend of the Delaware League and veteran official Neil Riddell on having the new synthetic turf field named in his honor this past Thursday September 1, 2022 at SUNY Delhi. Neil is an alumnus of SUNY Delhi, a member of their Athletic Hall of Fame, and was recognized as the lead donor for the construction of the field. His commitment to community service and to our local board of officials helps our local youths in so many ways and is certainly unmatched in his time and dedication for many, many years. The Delaware League salutes Neil Riddell for this special and deserving honor!!! We are very proud to call you a friend!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate Former Daily Star Sports Writers Rob Centorani and Dean Russin on their being elected to the New York State High School Softball Hall of Fame for the Class of 2023 as contributors by the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports, or NYSSCOGS. Both were great supporters of all local sports in the Daily Star coverage area for many years and we are proud to congratulate them on this prestigious honor. Very well deserved!!!

It is with great pleasure that the Delaware League send out congratulations to Kara Dumas from Gilboa Conesville Central School on receiving the 2021-22 Lou Gaeta Senior Memorial Scholarship from the Board of Directors of Stamford Junior Golf, Inc. This award goes to a graduating senior from a Delaware League school who has attended the Stamford Junior Golf, Inc. annual summer golf clinics, is a member of their school's varsity golf team, and displays the ideals of sportsmanship and integrity that the game of golf teaches us. It is truly an honor for Kara to be recognized for her efforts in the classroom, in the community, and on the golf course. Kara will be attending SUNY Cortland majoring in physical education and trying out for the women's golf team. The Delaware League would also like to thank Stamford Junior Golf, Inc. for their promoting the game of golf in our schools with their physical education class units on golf throughout the school year that they coordinate with our individual school physical education departments. On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate Gwendolyn Glennon of Hunter Tannersville and Kara Dumas of Gilboa Conesville on their terrific performances at the NYSPHSAA Girls Golf Championships at the Mc Gregor Links Country Club in Wilton, near Saratoga. Out of 121 participants, Gwendolyn finished tied for 46th overall and was the low scorer for the Section IV team members. Kara finished in 83rd place overall. Each of the 11 sections has an athlete honored with the NYSPHSAA Championship Sportsmanship Award, and the girls golf committee chose Gwendolyn as the Section IV recipient. A great weekend for all directed by our League President and Charlotte Valley Superintendent Jamie Harter. Congratulations!!!

In Boys Golf, Grady Glennon from Hunter Tannersville Central School and Thomas Chairvalotti from Margaretville Central School both qualified for the Boys Section IV Individual Tournament at Mark Twain Golf Club in Elmira, NY and they both finished 2 strokes out of qualifying for the Section IV State Team. On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate the Margaretville Blue Devils for capturing our Regular Season Tennis Championship. As a result of this championship, they will be our league representative to the first ever Section IV Team Tennis Sectionals where they will face off today in a semi final match against Delhi at Delhi at 4:30 PM. We want to wish them the best of luck!!! We would also like to congratulate our Delaware League Individual Tennis Champions as follows: Boys Singles Champion - Nick Uhrik from Hunter Tannersville, Girls Singles Champion - Hedda Flynn from Hunter Tannersville, Boys Doubles Champions - Garrett Legg and Jason Li from Hunter Tannersville, and Girls Doubles - Ashley Camano-Rosales and Holly Von Bernewitz from Margaretvile.

For Varsity Softball the participants and seedings are Roxbury (#1), Gilboa Conesville (#6), Davenport (#9), Windham (#11), and Stamford/Jefferson (#12). For Varsity Baseball the participants and seedings are South Kortight (#2), GIlboa Conesville (#5), Davenport (#6), Jefferson/Stamford (#7), and Downsville (#9). On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and AD's, we would like to congratulate our overall Delaware League Varsity Baseball Champions the South Kortright Rams and our overall Delaware League Varsity Softball Champions the Roxbury Lady Rockets. South Kortright defeated Charlotte Valley by a score of 5 - 2 and Roxbury defeated Gilboa Conesville by a score of 14 - 0. Both games took place in Neahwa Park in Oneonta and we would like to thank the City of Oneonta, their Parks and Recreation Department, and Parks and Recreation Department Director Louise Lansing for allowing us to use their fields and having them in great shape for us. We appreciate it very much!!!

On Thursday May 12th the Delaware League will be having their Varsity Boys Baseball Championship and their Varsity Girls Softball Championship in Neahwa Park in Oneonta, NY at 4:30 PM. The baseball championship will feature regular season champion South Kortright as the home team facing off against runner up Charlotte Valley as the visitor on Field #6. The softball championship will feature regular season champion Roxbury as the home team facing off against runner up Gilboa Conesville as the visitor on Ted Christmas Field #4. Tomorrow is the Delaware League Individual Tennis Championships at Total Tennis in Saugerties, NY at 9:00 AM. The league will be crowning a boys singles champion, a girls singles champion, boys doubles champions, and girls doubles champions. Good luck to all our players in this annual fun filled event which acts as a tune up for sectionals!

The Delaware League would like to congratulate the athletes and coaches from our league that this year are being inducted into the Section IV Hall of Fame. From the Class of 2021 the inductees are athlete Robin Heidt Hynes from Jefferson Central School and coach Rick Cammer from Jefferson Central School. From the Class of 2022 the inductees are athletes Dan Toombs from Charlotte Valley Central School and Michael Swantak from South Kortright Central School. Coaches are Jeff Baier from Downsville Central School, John Toroni from Jefferson Central School, Jo Hinkley from Roxbury Central School, and Jane Ware from Roxbury Central School. These groups of individuals have proudly represent their families, schools, and communities during their time at their respective schools.
