
Congratulations to the Section IV Skiing participants led by the Windham Ashland Jewett Central School Varsity Girls Team and Varsity Boys Team. On the girls side, Windham Ashland Jewett finished in fifth place in the team competition and the Section IV girls team as a group also finished in fifth place. On the boys side, Windham Ashland Jewett finished in eighth place in the team competition and the Section IV boys team as a group also finished in eighth place. For the individual girls skiers, Piper Cohane of WIndham Ashland Jewett was the top finisher in both the slalom and giant slalom events finishing in 22nd place and 3rd place respectively. For the individual boys skiers, Ryan McVitty of Margaretville was the top finisher in the slalom event finishing in 34th place, and John Garzone of Windham Ashland Jewett was the top finisher in the giant slalom event finishing in 40th place. The Section IV Sportsmanship winners were Piper Cohane of Windham Ashland Jewett and John Garzone of WIndham Ashland Jewett. Congratulations to everyone who participated and represented the Delaware League and Section IV.

Delaware League Senior Basketball Players!!! Just a reminder that the Delaware League Senior Basketball Games are scheduled for Monday night March 6th, 2023 at Roxbury Central School with the boys game first at 5:30 PM followed by the girls game second at 6:30 PM. Please bring your white and dark uniforms as we will make teams that night before the games. You must have the signed NYSPHSAA permission slip to play in the game. No phone calls or texts if you forget the slip as it must be signed by your parent or guardian. Please arrive 45 minutes before your scheduled game time so that the coaches can make equitable teams. We expect to see you at this fun game to complete your high school career!!!

Congratulations and best of luck to our ski team Sectional Champions for both Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls Skiing, Windham Ashland Jewett Central School, as they will represent the Delaware League and Section IV at the NYSPHSAA Skiing Championships at Bristol Mountain on February 27th and 28th, 2023. Individual Sectional Champions were Ryan McVitty from Margaretville Central School in both the Slalom and Giant Slalom events for the boys, and for the girls, Piper Cohane of Windham Ashland Jewett Central School won the Slalom event and Sophia Dyjak also of Windham Ashland Jewett Central School won the Giant Slalom event. Congratulations to our 2022-23 Delaware League Varsity Basketball Champions. In the Varsity Girls game, South Kortright defeated Windham Ashland Jewett by a score of 54-39. In the Varsity Boys game, South Kortright defeated Margaretville by a score of 60-31. A huge Thank You to everyone at the campus of SUNY Delhi for once again hosting our championships. We appreciate all of your efforts so very much!!! We look forward to working with you on next years Championship Games!!!

Congratulations to our 2022-23 Delaware League JV Basketball Champions. In the JV Girls Game, Charlotte Valley defeated Stamford/Jefferson by the score of 36-23 in an entertaining contest. In the JV Boys Game, Margaretville defeated South Kortright by the score of 49-45 in an exciting and tight contest throughout the entire night. All four teams and their schools and communities should be very proud of their accomplishments this year!!!

The Delaware League Varsity Basketball Championships will take place on Thursday February 16th, 2023 at the Manes Fieldhouse on the SUNY Delhi campus. General Admission for Adults and Students is $5.00 and anyone over 65 and under 10 will be admitted free (subject to change). Parking by the fieldhouse will be only for school buses and handicapped tagged cars. The Bronco Shuttle Bus will run throughout the night starting at 5:00 PM taking spectators from the lower lots to the top and back again. The Varsity Girls Championship at 5:30 PM will have #1 seed South Kortright vs #2 seed Windham. The Varsity Boys Championship at 7:30 PM will have #1 seed South Kortright vs #3 seed Margaretville. The Delaware League Awards Ceremony will take place at 7:00 PM where our Joseph P. Beck Senior Scholar Athletes will be recognized. Best of luck to all four teams in pursuit of the overall titles.

Good luck today to our ski and snowboarding teams participating in the Section IV Championships and End of Year Competition respectively at Belleayre Mountain. Congratulations to our Regular Season JV Championship Teams!!! On the girls side our regular season champion is the Charlotte Valley Lady Wildcats and on the boys side we have regular season co champions and they are the Margaretville Blue Devils and the South Kortright Rams. Congratulations to these teams on their accomplishments and enduring a less than full season with the lack of total JV teams in our league and area. Your school communities and families and friends are very proud of you!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate Jefferson Athletic Director Andi Cammer for being a finalist for the 2022-23 New York State Teacher of the Year. Andi is Jefferson’s K-6 Reading Teacher focusing on Life Skills and Workforce Development. We know the entire Jefferson community is very proud of Andi for this honor. Congratulations again Andi!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate Adam Champlin from South Kortright Central School for his selection to the 2022-23 New York State Boys Soccer Small School All State 5th Team by the United Soccer Coaches Association. We know your school, family, and friends are all proud of you for this great honor. Congratulations again Adam!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to send our congratulations to the South Kortright Varsity Boys Soccer Team and their Head Coach Bob Van Valkenburgh on an extremely successful season culminating in the Section IV Class D Championship game where they tied Southern Cayuga 2-2 and with the tie earned the right to share the Section IV Class D Varsity Boys Soccer title with Southern Cayuga. South Kortright finishes the year with an overall record of 16-0-2. Best of luck to Southern Cayuga who will advance on to state play this coming week by topping South Kortright in penalty kicks 6-5. We would also like to wish our Tri-Valley neighbor, the Schenevus Lady Dragons congratulations as they captured the Section IV Class D Girls Championship by defeating the Edmeston/Morris merged team by a score of 3-2. Best of luck in state tournament play this week as both Southern Cayuga and Schenevus match up against Section III in opening round action.
