On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate our overall Delaware League Varsity Boys Baseball Champion the South Kortright/Margaretville Merged Team and our overall Delaware League Varsity Girls Softball Champion, Windham Ashland Jewett Central School. The #1 seeded South Kortright/Margaretville Merged Team defeated the #2 seeded Gilboa Conesville/Roxbury Merged Team in the Varsity Baseball Championship Game by the score of 6-2. The #1 seeded Windham Ashland Jewett Team defeated the #2 seeded Charlotte Valley/Schenevus Merged Team in the Varsity Softball Championship Game by the score of 6-5. Both games took place in Neahwa Park in Oneonta, NY and we would like to thank the City of Oneonta Parks and Recreation Department for allowing us to use the fields and having them in great shape for us. On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate Julie Bergman, longtime Section IV administrator, on being chosen to the Class of 2026 Induction Class for the NYSPHSAA Hall of Fame. Induction will take place in the summer in July of 2026. Julie served Section IV in numerous capacities and NYSPHSAA as well including a three year term as NYSPHSAA President. She has been involved in athletics locally and regionally for over 30 years beginning at Delaware Academy in Delhi. Julie was a pleasure to work with and was extremely supportive of the Delaware League and our efforts locally and regionally in all of Section IV. Congrats again Julie!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate the Windham Ashland Jewett Central School Boys Varsity Tennis team on being our 2025-26 Delaware League Varsity Boys Tennis Champions with a league record of 12-0 and an overall record of 14-1. By virtue of being our league champion, the team will be our league representative to the Section IV Division 2 Team Tennis Sectional Tournament. Opening round play is Monday May 18th, 2026 at the Binghamton Tennis Center at 12:00 pm. #1 seeded Windham Ashland Jewett will play #4 seeded Watkins Glen from the IAC, and #2 seeded Delaware Academy from the MAC will play #3 seeded Oneonta from the STAC. The winners will compete against each other later that day for the championship . Good luck in sectional play!!!

The Delaware League Varsity Baseball and Softball Championships will take place on Thursday May 14th, 2026 in Neahwa Park in Oneonta, NY at 4:30 pm. The Varsity Baseball Game will take place on Field #6 between the #1 seeded team South Kortright/Margaretville Merged Team being the home team and the #2 seeded Gilboa Conesville/Roxbury Merged Team being the visiting team. The Varsity Softball Game will take place on Ted Christman Field #4 between the #1 seeded team Windham Ashland Jewett being the home team and the #2 seeded Charlotte Valley/Schenevus Merged Team being the visiting team. Also, congratulations to McKenna Hoyt of the Stamford/Jefferson Girls Varsity Basketball Merged Team , on being named the Section IV Class D Varsity Girls Basketball Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season, and on being named to the All Section IV BCANY First Team All Star Team. On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate Stamford/Jefferson Varsity Girls Basketball Merged Team Head Coach George Nebesnik on being chosen the Oneonta Daily Star 2025-26 Varsity Girls Basketball Co-Coach of the Year along with Delaware Academy Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach Todd Bruce. Both coaches led their teams to the NYSPHSAA Girls Basketball State Final Four before being defeated in semifinal contests. Their leadership was a key component to their teams successful seasons. We would also like to congratulate Stamford/Jefferson Varsity Girls Basketball Merged Team Senior Athlete McKenna Hoyt on being chosen the Oneonta Daily Star 2025-26 Varsity Girls Basketball Player of the Year for the newspapers coverage area. This award is a great reflection of hard work, commitment, and dedication over her entire high school career. Congratulations to Head Coach George Nebesnik and the Stamford/Jefferson Varsity Girls Basketball Merged Team on an extremely successful year representing their schools, families, friends, communities, the Delaware League, and Section IV proudly as they advanced to the NYSPHSAA Class D Final Four Semifinals before falling to the Section V Champion Batavia Notre Dame by the score of 73-57. The NYSPHSAA Section IV Sportsmanship Girls Basketball Winner was Bailey Mead from the Stamford /Jefferson Varsity Girls Basketball Merged Team. The tradition this program has created is recognized and respected throughout the area by players, coaches, and communities alike. It has been a pleasure to see them compete all season long. Congratulations to the Section IV Skiing participants led by the Windham Ashland Jewett Central School Varsity Girls Ski Team and the Hunter Tannersville Central School Varsity Boys Ski Team. Windham Ashland Jewett finished as NYSPHSAA runner-up in 2nd place overall in the girls team competition. Hunter Tannersville finished in 7th place overall in the boys team competition. For the individual girls skiers, Piper Cohane of Windham Ashland Jewett Central School was the top finisher in the Giant Slalom event finishing in 3rd place overall and she was also the top finisher in the Slalom event finishing in 8th place overall. For the individual boys skiers, Preston Kostera of Corning Painted Post Central School was the top finisher in the Giant Slalom event finishing in 26th place overall and he was also the top finisher in the Slalom event finishing in 24th place overall. The Section IV Sportsmanship Award Winners were Teagan Mahoney from Hunter Tannersville Central School for the girls and Jackson Storms from Windham Ashland Jewett Central School for the boys. Congratulations to everyone who participated and represented the Delaware League and Section IV.

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to wish Charlotte Valley Central School Student Athlete Hayden Marino the best of luck as she represents the Delaware League as a member of the Section IV SAAC Committee and will help lead a breakout session on The Impact of Sportsmanship by Spectators and how it affects the student athlete participants mental capacity and outlook throughout the contest. This will happen on Wednesday February 25th, 2026 at the Section IV SAAC Conference in Binghamton, NY for Athletic Directors, Coaches, and Student Athletes in all of our Section IV schools. By virtue of her hard work on this committee, Hayden has additionally been chosen to attend the NYSPHSAA Student Leadership Conference on April 15th and 16th, 2026 in Albany, NY. This is a wonderful opportunity for her to represent Charlotte Valley, the Delaware League, and Section IV at the state level. We know that Hayden will be a great representative for us and that she will do a wonderful job. Congratulations again Hayden for all your hard work and the recognition you are receiving. On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to acknowledge and congratulate long time member of the Oneonta Board of Basketball Officials, Jason O’Donnell, on his selection to represent Section IV as one of their chosen officials for the NYSPHSAA Girls State Basketball Championships at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY the weekend of March 19th-22nd, 2026. Jason is a member of both the Girls and Boys Oneonta Board of Basketball Officials, who cover the majority of our Delaware League Basketball Games throughout the season.
