Delaware League

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate our athletes who compete in Track and Field in the Tri Valley League. Individual winners in the Tri Valley Championships are as follows: on the girls side winners include Ava Poniros from the Margaretville/Roxbury/Gilboa Conesville Merged Team in the 200m Dash event, Bailee Porter from the SKCS/Andes/Charlotte Valley Merged Team in the Discus event, and the SKCS/Andes/Charlotte Valley Merged Team 4x100 Relay Team consisting of Zariah Fortune, Sally Kuhn, Jaiden Wheeler, and Madison Losie. On the boys side the sole winner was Tristen Thomson from the Jefferson/Stamford Merged Team in the High Jump event. By virtue of their wins, all of these athletes are recognized as Tri Valley Track and Field All Stars for the 2025-26 Spring Season. In team results, the SKCS/Andes/Charlotte Valley Merged Teams had the top girls team finish in 3rd place and the top boys team finish in 5th place. Congratulations to all of the athletes who participated this year!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to recognize the individual accomplishments of our spring male athletes in golf. In Boys Individual Sectionals at the Mark Twain Golf Club in Elmira, NY we had two athletes representing the Delaware League. They were Gideon Glennon from Hunter Tannersville Central School and Boston Quarino from the Andes/SKCS Merged Team. Both attempted to qualify for the Boys Section IV State Team in a field of 73 competitors. Gideon missed advancing to second round play by just three shots. Congratulations on proudly representing your schools, communities, and the Delaware League so proudly in the tournament.

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate the Windham Ashland Jewett Boys Varsity Tennis Team for proudly representing our league in the Section IV Division 2 Team Tennis Tournament at the Binghamton Tennis Center. In the semifinals, the team defeated the #4 seeded team from the IAC, Watkins Glen, by the score of 3-0. In the finals, the #3 seeded team from the STAC, Oneonta, defeated Windham Ashland Jewett by the score of 3-0. Congratulations on an extremely successful season, and best of luck to Oneonta as they will represent Section IV in the NYSPHSAA Division 2 Team Tennis State Tournament!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League, we would like to congratulate the following Varsity Girls Basketball players for being named to the NYSSWA 2025-26 Class D and B Girls All State Basketball Team Lists. In Class D, named to the 1st Team was McKenna Hoyt from the Stamford/Jefferson Merged Team. Named to the 7th Team was Tierney Turner from the Stamford/Jefferson Merged Team. Named to the Honorable Mention Lists were Brinlee Wright from the Charlotte Valley/Schenevus Merged Team and Lily Constable from Hunter Tannersville Central School. In Class B, named to the 5th Team was Grace Walley from the Downsville/Walton Merged Team. This is a tremendous honor that recognizes the hard work of these players, their teammates, and their coaching staff. The entire league, our schools, the athletes families, and their local communities are proud of these accomplishments!!!

Congratulations to all of the Delaware League Varsity Girls Softball and Varsity Boys Baseball Teams advancing to Section IV Class D play. On the girls side, the seeds in Class D are as follows: the #2 seed Windham Ashland Jewett, the #3 seed the Charlotte Valley/Schenevus Merged Team, the #6 seed the Gilboa Conesville/Roxbury Merged Team, and the #8 seed the South Kortright/Andes Merged Team. On the boys side, the seeds in Class D are as follows: the #2 seed the South Kortright/Margaretville Merged Team, the #3 seed the Gilboa Conesville/Roxbury Merged Team, and the #4 seed the Jefferson/Stamford Merged Team. On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate our overall Delaware League Varsity Boys Baseball Champion the South Kortright/Margaretville Merged Team and our overall Delaware League Varsity Girls Softball Champion, Windham Ashland Jewett Central School. The #1 seeded South Kortright/Margaretville Merged Team defeated the #2 seeded Gilboa Conesville/Roxbury Merged Team in the Varsity Baseball Championship Game by the score of 6-2. The #1 seeded Windham Ashland Jewett Team defeated the #2 seeded Charlotte Valley/Schenevus Merged Team in the Varsity Softball Championship Game by the score of 6-5. Both games took place in Neahwa Park in Oneonta, NY and we would like to thank the City of Oneonta Parks and Recreation Department for allowing us to use the fields and having them in great shape for us. We also want to thank our point person to work with in City Hall, Bonnie Cuozzo. We appreciate it so very much!!! Thank you!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate our individual tennis champions that were crowned at our Delaware League Individual Tennis Tournament at Total Tennis in Saugerties, NY. Our Boys Singles Champion is Ben Fink, from Windham Ashland Jewett Central School. Our Girls Singles Champion is Dannielle Galatti from Hunter Tannersville Central School. Our Boys Doubles Champions are Owen Pellettier and Harrison Smith from Windham Ashland Jewett Central School. Our Girls Doubles Champions are Madison Burgwin and Jillian Mosley from the Gilboa Conesville/Roxbury Merged Team. Congratulations again to everyone!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate Julie Bergman, longtime Section IV administrator, on being chosen to the Class of 2026 Induction Class for the NYSPHSAA Hall of Fame. Induction will take place in the summer in July of 2026. Julie served Section IV in numerous capacities and NYSPHSAA as well including a three year term as NYSPHSAA President. She has been involved in athletics locally and regionally for over 30 years beginning at Delaware Academy in Delhi. Julie was a pleasure to work with and was extremely supportive of the Delaware League and our efforts locally and regionally in all of Section IV. Congrats again Julie!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate the Windham Ashland Jewett Central School Boys Varsity Tennis team on being our 2025-26 Delaware League Varsity Boys Tennis Champions with a league record of 12-0 and an overall record of 14-1. By virtue of being our league champion, the team will be our league representative to the Section IV Division 2 Team Tennis Sectional Tournament. Opening round play is Monday May 18th, 2026 at the Binghamton Tennis Center at 12:00 pm. #1 seeded Windham Ashland Jewett will play #4 seeded Watkins Glen from the IAC, and #2 seeded Delaware Academy from the MAC will play #3 seeded Oneonta from the STAC. The winners will compete against each other later that day for the championship . Good luck in sectional play!!!

The Delaware League Varsity Baseball and Softball Championships will take place on Thursday May 14th, 2026 in Neahwa Park in Oneonta, NY at 4:30 pm. The Varsity Baseball Game will take place on Field #6 between the #1 seeded team South Kortright/Margaretville Merged Team being the home team and the #2 seeded Gilboa Conesville/Roxbury Merged Team being the visiting team. The Varsity Softball Game will take place on Ted Christman Field #4 between the #1 seeded team Windham Ashland Jewett being the home team and the #2 seeded Charlotte Valley/Schenevus Merged Team being the visiting team. The rain date will be Friday May 15th, 2026 with the same place and times. Best of luck to all four teams!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate Grace Walley, a student athlete on the Walton/Downsville Girls Varsity Indoor Track and Field Team, for being both the Section IV Individual Champion and the NYSPHSAA Individual Champion in the Shot Put Category. We know your family, your coaches and teammates, and your community members are all very proud of these remarkable accomplishments. Best of luck in your senior year!!!

Congratulations to George Nebesnik, Head Coach of the Stamford/Jefferson Girls Varsity Basketball Merged Team on being selected as the BCANY Section IV Class D Varsity Girls Basketball Coach of the Year for the 2025-26 season. Also, congratulations to McKenna Hoyt of the Stamford/Jefferson Girls Varsity Basketball Merged Team , on being named the Section IV Class D Varsity Girls Basketball Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season, and on being named to the All Section IV BCANY First Team All Star Team. Also named to the Honorable Mention Team was Tierney Turner of the Stamford/Jefferson Girls Varsity Basketball Merged Team. The Delaware League is proud of all of you for earning these great accomplishments and being wonderful representatives of your schools and communities. Also congratulations to Stamford graduate and Head Coach of the Delaware Academy Girls Varsity Basketball Team, Todd Bruce, on being selected as the BCANY Section IV Class C Varsity Girls Basketball Coach of the Year for the 2025-26 season, a well deserved award.

Congratulations to Head Coach George Nebesnik and the Stamford/Jefferson Varsity Girls Basketball Merged Team on an extremely successful year representing their schools, families, friends, communities, the Delaware League, and Section IV proudly as they advanced to the NYSPHSAA Class D Final Four Semifinals before falling to the Section V Champion Batavia Notre Dame by the score of 73-57. The NYSPHSAA Section IV Sportsmanship Girls Basketball Winner was Bailey Mead from the Stamford /Jefferson Varsity Girls Basketball Merged Team. The tradition this program has created is recognized and respected throughout the area by players, coaches, and communities alike. It has been a pleasure to see them compete all season long. We are all very proud of you and pleased at how you represented all of us in the state tournament. Congratulations again on an amazing season!!!
