Congratulations to our 2024-25 Delaware League JV Basketball Champions. In the JV Girls Game, #1 seed Charlotte Valley/Schenevus defeated #2 seed Stamford/Jefferson by the score of 47-24 in a hard fought contest. In the JV Boys Game, #2 seed Margaretville defeated #1 seed South Kortright by the score of 47-37 in a very entertaining contest. All four teams, their school districts, and communities should be very proud of their accomplishments this year!!!

The Second Round of the Delaware League Varsity Girls Basketball Playoffs will take place on Friday February 14th, 2025. In the Upper Bracket, #3 seed Charlotte Valley will host #4 seed Hunter Tannersville in a single Varsity contest starting at 5:30 pm. By virtue of their wins last night, #1 seed South Kortright and #2 seed Stamford/Jefferson will advance to the Delaware League Championships at SUNY Delhi on Thursday February 20th, 2025. Congratulations to these two teams, and best of luck to them next week and to the remaining 2 teams in their second round games.

Congratulations and Best of Luck to our Ski Team Section IV Champions from Hunter Tannersville Central School for Varsity Boys and from Windham Ashland Jewett Central School for Varsity Girls, as they will represent the Delaware League and Section IV at the NYSPHSAA Skiing Championships at Gore Mountain on February 24th and 25th, 2025. Individual Sectional Champions were Chase Norwick from Margaretville Central School and Piper Cohane from Windham Ashland Jewett Central School as they both were dual champions in the Slalom and Giant Slalom events. The Delaware League JV Championships will take place on Tuesday February 18th, 2025 at Roxbury Central School. Admission will be $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students and Senior Citizens over 65, and just students under 10 are free. The JV Girls Championship Game will be at 5:30 pm with the #1 seed Charlotte Valley/Schenevus Merged Team playing the #2 seed Stamford/Jefferson Merged Team. The JV Boys Championship Game will be at 7:00 pm with the #1 seed South Kortright Central School playing the #2 seed Margaretville Central School. The snow date will be Wednesday February 19th, 2025 with the same place and times. Best of Luck to all 4 teams in pursuit of the overall titles.

Named to the 2nd team was McKenna Hoyt from the Stamford/Jefferson merged team. Named to the 3rd team was Addy Eckert from South Kortright Central School. On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors we would like to congratulate former Daily Star Sports Editor Dean Russin for being recognized by the New York State Public Relations Association for receiving an Award of Honor for social media coverage in his role as DCMO Public Relations Specialist serving Sherburne-Earlville Central School for his coverage of the schools basketball court dedication to retiring 36 year Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Kevin Vibbard Sr.at his final home game before his retirement at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. There was livestream coverage and photo coverage of the event. The coverage broke a school Facebook record with 1726 reactions and 192 comments. Congrats Dean!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate the Delhi/Charlotte Valley Boys Varsity Football Merged Team on winning the Section IV Class D Championship by defeating perennial power Tioga by the score of 22-21 in overtime. In NYSPHSAA quarterfinal play, the team was unfortunately defeated by Section III opponent Dolgeville by the score of 28-16. We are proud of how you represented your schools and communities all season long. Congrats again!!!

On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to congratulate the Delhi/South Kortright Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country Merged Teams on their performances at the NYSPHSAA Class D State Cross Country Championships. The Boys Team finished in 7th place overall and the Girls Team finished in 5th place overall. Aurelia Comer was recognized as a NYSPHSAA Cross Country All Star. Individual South Kortright athletes who finished in the top 100 were Aurelia Comer in 13th place, Elsa Marigliano in 63rd place, Daphne Vasilakis in 67th place, and Emma Smith in 85th place. We are very proud of all of you for your team and individual accomplishments. Congrats again!!!
