Also, congratulations to McKenna Hoyt of the Stamford/Jefferson Girls Varsity Basketball Merged Team , on being named the Section IV Class D Varsity Girls Basketball Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season, and on being named to the All Section IV BCANY First Team All Star Team. The NYSPHSAA Section IV Sportsmanship Girls Basketball Winner was Bailey Mead from the Stamford /Jefferson Varsity Girls Basketball Merged Team. The tradition this program has created is recognized and respected throughout the area by players, coaches, and communities alike. It has been a pleasure to see them compete all season long. We are all very proud of you and pleased at how you represented all of us in the state tournament. Congratulations again on an amazing season!!!

Congratulations to the Section IV Skiing participants led by the Windham Ashland Jewett Central School Varsity Girls Ski Team and the Hunter Tannersville Central School Varsity Boys Ski Team. Windham Ashland Jewett finished as NYSPHSAA runner-up in 2nd place overall in the girls team competition. Hunter Tannersville finished in 7th place overall in the boys team competition. For the individual girls skiers, Piper Cohane of Windham Ashland Jewett Central School was the top finisher in the Giant Slalom event finishing in 3rd place overall and she was also the top finisher in the Slalom event finishing in 8th place overall. For the individual boys skiers, Preston Kostera of Corning Painted Post Central School was the top finisher in the Giant Slalom event finishing in 26th place overall and he was also the top finisher in the Slalom event finishing in 24th place overall. The Section IV Sportsmanship Award Winners were Teagan Mahoney from Hunter Tannersville Central School for the girls and Jackson Storms from Windham Ashland Jewett Central School for the boys. Congratulations to everyone who participated and represented the Delaware League and Section IV.
On behalf of the Delaware League Superintendents and Athletic Directors, we would like to wish Charlotte Valley Central School Student Athlete Hayden Marino the best of luck as she represents the Delaware League as a member of the Section IV SAAC Committee and will help lead a breakout session on The Impact of Sportsmanship by Spectators and how it affects the student athlete participants mental capacity and outlook throughout the contest. This will happen on Wednesday February 25th, 2026 at the Section IV SAAC Conference in Binghamton, NY for Athletic Directors, Coaches, and Student Athletes in all of our Section IV schools. By virtue of her hard work on this committee, Hayden has additionally been chosen to attend the NYSPHSAA Student Leadership Conference on April 15th and 16th, 2026 in Albany, NY. This is a wonderful opportunity for her to represent Charlotte Valley, the Delaware League, and Section IV at the state level. We know that Hayden will be a great representative for us and that she will do a wonderful job. Congratulations again Hayden for all your hard work and the recognition you are receiving. We are all very proud of you!!!

In the JV Boys Game, the #1 seed Gilboa Conesville/Roxbury Merged Team defeated the #2 seed Jefferson/Stamford Merged Team by the score of 47-45 in a very entertaining contest. The Delaware League Varsity Basketball Championships will take place on Friday February 20th, 2026 at the Manes Field House on the SUNY Delhi campus. General admission for all adults, students, Senior Citizens 65 and older is $5.00, and children under 10 years of age will be admitted free. Parking by the field house will be only for team school buses and handicapped tagged cars. The Bronco Shuttle Buses will run throughout the night starting at 4:30 pm taking spectators from the lower lots to the top and back again. The Varsity Girls Championship at 5:30 pm will have #1 seed Stamford/Jefferson vs #2 seed SKCS/Andes. The Varsity Boys Championship at 7:30 pm will have #1 seed SKCS/Andes vs #2 seed Jefferson/Stamford. The Delaware League Awards Ceremony will take place at 7:00 pm where our Joseph P. Beck Senior Scholar Athletes will be recognized along with our Coaches Hall of Fame inductees. Best of luck to all four participating teams in pursuit of our overall titles.

In the Upper Bracket, #3 seed Hunter Tannersville will host #4 seed Margaretville with a JV start time of 5:30 pm and a Varsity start time of 7:00 pm. By virtue of their wins last night, #1 seed Stamford/Jefferson Merged Team and #2 seed SKCS/Andes Merged Team will advance to the Delaware League Championship at SUNY Delhi on Friday February 20th, 2026. Congratulations to these two teams, and best of luck to them and the remaining two teams in their second round games.
The 1st Round of the Delaware League Boys Varsity Basketball Playoffs will take place on Wednesday February 11th, 2026 at various sites. In the Upper Bracket, the #1 seed SKCS/Andes Merged Team will host #4 seed Charlotte Valley with a JV time of 5:30 pm and a Varsity time of 7:00 pm. The #2 seed Jefferson/Stamford Merged Team will host the #3 seed Gilboa Conesville/Roxbury Merged Team with a JV time of 5:30 pm and a Varsity time of 7:00 pm. The winners in the Upper Bracket will be off until the Delaware League Varsity Championships at SUNY Delhi on Friday February 20th, 2026 at 7:30 pm. The Upper Bracket losers will pair off in Second Round action on Friday February 13th, 2026 at the school of the lower seeded team. The Lower Bracket will be a three night round robin. On Wednesday February 11th, 2026 #5 seed Windham will host #6 seed Hunter Tannersville in a single Varsity contest at 5:30 pm. On Thursday February 12th, 2026 #5 seed Windham will host #7 seed Margaretville in a single Varsity contest at 5:30 pm. On Friday February 13th, 2026 #6 seed Hunter Tannersville will host #7 seed Margaretville with a JV time of 5:30 pm and a Varsity time of 7:00 pm.
