Rams baseball wins Delaware League title

ONEONTA - South Kortright Rams baseball defeated the Charlotte Valley Wildcats 5-2 on Thursday, May 12 to win the Delaware League Championship at Neahwa Park. 

In the bottom of the first inning, SK got on the board when a Patrick Dengler single to center field scored Adam Champlin and Darren Dengler for a 2-0 lead over the Wildcats. 

In the second and third innings, teams saw three batters up and three outs keeping the score 2-0 in favor of the Rams. 

In the bottom of the fourth inning, two more runs were added, one off a Patrick Dengler triple to center field, scoring Darren Dengler, and a Lee Marigliano sacrifice fly to score Patrick Dengler, jumping the Rams’ lead to 4-0 after four innings. 

After a long fifth inning for the Rams’ defense, they stopped the Wildcats from getting on the board. In the bottom of the sixth inning, SK added to their lead, sending Logan Firment home off a Darren Dengler double to left field, growing their lead to 5-0. 

In the top of the seventh inning, CV got on the board when Michael Camarata singled to center field, scoring Trevor Waid. Then a pitch got past the catcher allowing Nathan Amadon to steal home to cut the lead to 5-2. The Rams stopped the late comeback attempt and earned a 5-2 victory. 

SK’s Patrick Dengler earned the win on the mound finishing with 11 strikeouts, while adding a triple and three RBIs. Darren Dengler added two runs and two hits to the Rams’ victory. 

CV’s Mike Camarata threw eight strikeouts. Jamison Quigley and Dylan Waid contributed two hits apiece for the Wildcats.
