SK Ram Boys Clinch 7th Delaware League Champs

DELHI - South Kortright Rams Boys basketball defeated the Jefferson/Stamford Jayhawks 74-38 to win the Delaware League Championship on Thursday, Feb. 17 at SUNY Delhi. It is the seventh consecutive league title for the Rams.
The Rams took a 21 - 18 lead going into the second quarter. The Rams saw balanced scoring for the team early in the game. The Jayhawks, on the other hand, saw Damien Merwin lead all scorers with 12 points in the quarter. In the second quarter, the Rams outshot the Jayhawks 13 - 11 to add to their lead. The Jayhawks continued to give the Rams offense a hard time keeping the game close. SK led 34-29 heading into halftime.
SK’s Connor Quarino and Troy Dianich led the Rams with 9 points apiece, while Josh Anderson had 8 points. The Jayhawks were led by Damien Merwin with 15 first-half points. Spencer Clareen added 7 points for the Jayhawks. In the third quarter, the Rams took control of the game and pulled away from J/S. SK outshot the Jayhawks 23-6 in the third quarter, for a 57-35 lead. SK’s Quarino couldn’t be stopped, adding 14 more points in the third, jumping his point total to 23 points heading into the fourth quarter.in the final quarter, the Rams had another big defensive stand only allowing three points by the Jayhawks. The Rams made sure to stifle any comeback attempts while scoring 17 points in the quarter. SK holds on to earn the 74-38 victory over J/S for the DL championship title.
SK’s Connor Quarino led all scorers finishing with 25 points. Troy Dianich added 12 points and Logan Firment contributed 9 points. Josh Anderson added 8 points. Adam Champlin and Damien Gloster both finished with 6 points for the Rams victory.
J/S’s Damien Merwin led his team with 17 points and Spencer Clareen contributed 9 points for the Jayhawks.
