Rams secure 14th straight Delaware League title

DELHI - The South Kortright Girls Varsity Basketball Team got out to an early first-quarter lead over the Charlotte Valley Wildcats heralding a Delaware League Championship win, leading the Rams to their 14th consecutive title, Thursday, Feb. 15.

Just one basket separated the teams in the first quarter with a score of 11-9, Rams, followed by a six-point Wildcat lead in the second-quarter for a half-time score of 22-18 Wildcats.

The Rams dominated third-quarter play, putting them ahead 5 points, 18-13, entering the fourth quarter with a one-point lead, 36-35.

The Rams' Lexi Hendrickson netted a 3-point basket with 5 seconds on the clock in the fourth quarter, to secure the championship title 43-42.

Leading all scorers was SK’s Addy Eckert who netted 21 points.

Charlotte Valley’s Brinlee Wright led her team in scoring with 18 points. Team mate Ella Gerster had  9 points, Natalie Amadon contributed 7 points to the effort.
